Cattleya - Regular

This page includes all regular (not selected for shape or color, etc...) Cattleya species, Brazilian or exotic.

Cattleya aclandiae

Cattleya aclandiae is one of the most compact species in the genus. A warm grower from tropical coastal Brazil, the plants seem to grow better mounted. Plenty of light and air humidity are best for growing the species.

FS - 35.00

Cattleya amethystoglossa

This species grows tall, robust plants that can produce up to 20 or more pink-magenta flowers (up to 4" or more across); these are lightly to heavily spotted. Plants are warm growers and like plenty of light and dryer during fall and winter. Two selected plants used here.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya araguaiensis

This is one of the less common species in cultivation. Comes from Central Brazil and thus is a warm grower. Flowers are about 4" across. Very limited quantity.

FS - 25.00

Cattleya eldorado

The showiest Cattleya species from the Amazon. This is an unifoliate with flowers about 6" across and subtle pink tones on the segments and yellow throat (yellow turns to orange when flowers age). Fragrance is wonderful. Warm grower.

FS - 25.00

Cattleya granulosa

Very showy species from the beaches of the northeastern region of Brazil. Plants get quite tall and robust, producing then several waxy flowers about 5"across. Flower color goes from green to yellow to bronze to dark red. Warm growers.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya harrisoniana

A warm growing species from Brazil that also withstand very low temperatures. Flowers can be up to 4" across and are produced up to 8 on an inflorescence. Very good growers.

3" - 15.00

Cattleya intermedia

This is the regular form of the species. So much has been done in terms of improvement of the species that we forget how the flowers usually look like.

4" (NFS) - 15.00

Cattleya kerrii

A very rare species from coastal tropical Brazil. The species is closely related to Cattleya harrisoniana, but plants and flowers are a bit smaller. Warm grower..

3" - 25.00

Cattleya leopoldii

Robust species from Southern Brazil. Plants grow on the coast, mainly on swamps and sand dunes. Plants get up to about 2' tall and produce up to more than 15 flowers (that are about 3"-4" across) per inflorescence. Extremely fragrant.

3" - 18.00

Cattleya loddigesii

One of the best known of the bifoliate cattleyas, and the first to be described. The delicate colors of the well-balanced flowers make the species a long time favorite among growers. Plants stay manageable for a bifoliate and frequently start blooming quite small. Flowers 4". Intermediate, but cold and heat tolerant.

3" - 15.00

Cattleya luteola

This is the smallest of the unifoliate cattleyas. It comes from the Amazon lowlands, so it is a warm grower and doesn't like too much of a seasonal variation. The bright yellow flowers are about 2"across and produced up to 8 at a time on very compact plants.

2" (NFS to FS) - 15.00

Cattleya schilleriana

An extremely showy Brazilian bifoliate. Plants are robust, but short. Flowers are very distinctive, and up to more than 4" across. Intermediate growers, plants prefer it a bit dryer in the winter. Medium to strong light, depending on growing temperatures.
