Cattleya - Special Selected Seedlings

This page includes all selected varieties and color forms of Cattleya species, Brazilian or exotic.

Cattleya amethystoglossa 4N x sib select

Sib between two excellent tetraploid amethystoglossas. Flowers should have very heavy substance and good shape.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya chocoensis semi-alba x sib select

Out cross of two excellent chocoensis semi-albas. Color should be white on the segments and the lip with magenta markings on the frontlobe. Color should be very similar to the one pictured here.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya dowiana rosita x sib

Spectacular color form of the species. This is the subspecies from Costa Rica, but with lots of markings on petals, similar to the one shown here.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya guttata aurea x self

A very unusual color form of the species, selfed to produce more plants like it. Sepals and petals have a yellow base color, and the lip is the typical magenta.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya intermedia alba x aquinii alba

Plants from that cross started to bloom already. From about a dozen plants, 3 were aquinii albas as this one, so we can infer that we will have about 25% aquiniis here. All of them are albas, anyway.

4" - 35.00

Cattleya intermedia coerulea x sib

This kind of cross always confirm the color, so we expect 100% coeruleas here. Shape is probably typical for the species, but as both parents had intense color, seedlings should have very showy flowers.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya intermedia orlata ('#1-94' x '#3-94')

Excellent expectation on orlatas. Plants are very good growers, compact and should bloom in 4" pots. First blooming seedling pictured here.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya labiata amesiana 'Foleyana'

Despite being a plant found in nature decades ago, this is still one of the nicest labiatas ever. The colors are very delicate and plants are easy growers. Large (6"+) flowers.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya labiata coerulea ('Junior' x 'Lourival')

Two of the best shaped coeruleas outcrossed, 'Lourival' pictured here. 'Junior' has a dark full colored lip and an excellent round shape. Compact plants.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya leopoldii alba ('Dr. Edu Silveira' x 'F2 Fields')

Here we have a cross of a second generation 'Fields' plant with another with a completely different origin. We expect to have more variation on albas than on the strict sib of 'Fields' progeny. Flowers green with white lips. Photo of 'F2 Fields' here.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya leopoldii alba 'F2 Fields' x sib

In this case, we have a sibling between two plants from the same origin, a selfing of 'Fields'. This is proven to produce more albas. Flowers green with white lips. Photo of 'F2 Fields' used.

3" - 35.00

Cattleya loddigesii 'Aranda' AM/AOS x self

An excellent awarded loddigesii, selfed. Flowers should have very good form and substance, with the regular nice pink loddigesii color.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya loddigesii coerulea x sib select

This is a sib between two daughters of 'Blue Sky', so this is an elusive one. Nobody can't guarantee the flowers are going to be blue, but without trying, no results.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya maxima semi-alba x self

A selfing of a very nice white with colored lip maxima. The expectations are that color is repeated as is mostly the case with this type of seedling.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya mossiae alba ('Julia' x 'CG')

Two very nice mossiae albas crossed to produce more plants of this color form. Flowers are completely white with just some yellow in the lip throat. Plants are a repeat of a previous seedling batch that produced the flower shown here.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya mossiae semi-alba x sib select

Two excellent semi-albas were used here to produce more high quality plants of this color form. A few that flowered already had lips with stripes instead of solid.

4" (NFS) - 35.00

Cattleya nobilior coerulea ('#1' x '#2')

Second generation sib. Color is light grayish-blue, and so far seedlings have apple green leaves like the parents so color should repeat. Update: first one to flower pictured here.

3" - 50.00

Cattleya percivaliana ('Karen Graf' x 'Summit')

Two of the best percivalianas around outcrossed to produce more high quality plants ('Summit' shown here). Flower shape is excellent in both so expectations are extremely high.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya percivaliana alba x sib

This is a seedling batch between two sister plants with good shape and nice white flowers. These should have very intense yellow markings in the lip throat, typical of the species.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya schilleriana 'Werner' x self

A very nice schilleriana selfed to produce more high quality plants of the species

2" - 25.00

Cattleya trianae amesiana x sib select

Two excellent trianae amesianas were used here to produce more of these white flowers with light pink lips. Both plants have very good shape and color, and this type of sib usually is very faithful to the color.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya trianae ('The Premier' x 'Rolf')

Two excellent regular-colored trianaes were used here with the objective of producing more of these trianaes with round and full segments. Very high expectations.

3" - 45.00

Cattleya violacea x sib select

Another robust bifoliate, C. violacea is the most widespread species in the genus. It can be found all over the Amazon Basin, so plants are warm growers and like high humidity, fairly high light. Flowers are up to more than 5" across. Expectations are high on this seedling batch.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya walkeriana ('Jandir' x 'D. Nega')

Two fairly light-colored and very good-shaped parents were used here, and the objective is to produce more nice walkerianas. The use of two native parents will guarantee that no hybrids are produced.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya walkeriana coerulea ('Rosita' x 'Severiano')

This is an outcross between two coeruleas. Although we cannot be sure if the flowers are going to be coeruleas (as these are new, unproved parents), the only way to test them is to try something like this.

2" - 25.00

Cattleya warneri ('Ricardo Bells' x 'Rio Casca')

An outcross between two favorites of Brazilian growers, one an albescens form and another a light coerulea. Although this type of cross is usually speculative, experience tells that very light-colored flowers are consistently produced.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya warneri ('Elvira' x 'Mem. R. Kautsky')

Another outcross between two very well-regarded plants of the species, in this case a coerulea and an amoena (light pink with slightly darker light pink lip). As is common in this type of cross, plants are pure light green which makes for expectation of very lightly colored flowers.

3" - 25.00

Cattleya warscewiczii tipo ('Farina' x 'BH')

This seedling batch was made for shape. both parents have excellent form and color, so we expect flowers of high-quality.

2" - 20.00

Cattleya warscewiczii semi-alba ('Bedford' x 'Orlata')

Another seedling batch from 'Bedford' (pictured here), this time with another plant already produced from a selfing of it. besides being an easy grower, 'Bedford' has exceptional color and shape for the species. Objective is yet again to produce more excellent semi-albas.

4" - 45.00
