WELCOME TO MIRANDA ORCHIDS

Thanks for taking your time visiting this site. The main (but perhaps eventually not the only) subjects to be found here are Orchids from Brazil, and I will try to have as many different aspects of them covered.

I am an Orchid Taxonomist with the main specialty in Brazilian Laeliinae (Laelia, Cattleya and related genera, for the non-scientists) who also happens to be a commercial orchid grower. This site will include plants available through our company in the U.S., and these reflect the highest quality on Brazilian species. Other selected plants will also be listed, look for all plant related material under "Price List" on the left sidebar.

The different pages will be updated at different rates and the date of last updating will be shown at the opening Home page. This will make easier for visitors to find out when something new is added.

Below there is a sample of what else you will find in the site. For navigating the different sections of the site, use the folders on the left side bar and/or links bar at the bottom of each page. This way you don't need to scroll all the way up or down every time you want to go to another page. Any suggestions or comments just e-mail me.

» Pictures with descriptions

These are a very important part of the site. This page, Brazilian Orchids, will be updated periodically (as frequently as possible, that's what I can tell right now) and will include selected plants, habitat pictures and everything else that might be of interest for orchid people.

» Thorny issues

This is one of the aspects of the Taxonomy page and the idea is to provide people with clues on how to separate closely related species or just help identify no-so-well-known entities (which can be genera, species, varieties, color forms, etc.).

» New entities

Also in the Taxonomy page, this section will report and comment on recently described entities from Brazil.
